SVD opens special appeal for victims of African storms & floods
The Divine Word Missionaries have launched a special appeal to help the victims of Hurricane Idai and Cyclone Kenneth, which hit Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi recently, to get back onto their feet and rebuild their lives.
The SVD AUS Province is taking part in the appeal and welcomes any donations which could assist in the recovery effort.

Alice Springs parish gearing up to celebrate milestones
The Alice Springs parish is planning to mark two historical milestones while strengthening the fruits of reconciliation Pope Saint John Paul II spoke about during his visit there three decades ago.
Parish priest Fr Asaeli Raass SVD said the parish had much to celebrate this year with the 50th anniversary of their church – Our Lady of the Sacred Heart – and 90 years since the parish’s first priest, Fr James Long MSC, celebrated the first Catholic Mass on the land of the Arrernte people.

The Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters have elected and installed a new Provincial and leadership team for their Australia Province.
Sr Shalini Philomina Mathew SSpS (Sr Philo), who had most recently been pastoral associate at St Mark’s Parish, Inala, has taken on the leadership role, following the completion of Sr Sarita Kurikattil’s term as Provincial.
Thai District gives thanks for 20 years of mission
The SVD Thai District recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Divine Word Missionaries’ presence in Thailand.
The anniversary was marked during a gathering of the confreres for their quarterly recollection, where, in a spirit of prayer they gave thanks to God for blessing the Thailand mission over the years.
Conscience: A Lenten Reflection
Diversity is an undeniable fact about humanity. Diversity exists in gender, age, culture, religion, social and economic class, and a host of other things that make one person’s life different from that of another. Looking at how there are so many differences that exist among individuals and cultures in the world, one might conclude that there cannot be any unifying factor that connects everyone.

The chaplaincy relationship between the Divine Word Missionaries and Melbourne’s Indonesian Catholic community recently notched up its 25th anniversary, with the links between the two having grown strongly over the decades.
Fr Frank Gerry SVD was the first Divine Word Missionary assigned as chaplain to the Indonesian community in Melbourne during his time as Rector of Dorish Maru College from 1993-1999.
Joyful celebration as two young missonaries take final vows for SVD
The SVD AUS Province recently celebrated as two of its students took their final vows as Divine Word Missionaries and were ordained to the Diaconate.
The two events were significant milestones on the missionary journey of Toub Anisong Chanthavong, the first person from Laos to become an SVD, and Simon Dominguez Prospero from Mexico.
