The launch of the e-news is part of a new digital era for the Australian Province of the Divine Word Missionaries, which includes a new website as well as a Facebook and Twitter presence.

As Divine Word Missionaries, our vocation calls us to continually be in dialogue with the world around us and with the people we serve. This e-news is just one more way of doing that.

Published each month, the e-news will drop straight into the inbox of all who choose to subscribe. Subscription is free and can be done from our website at www.divineword.org.au.

It will feature the stories of the people and the ministries of SVD Australian Province as well as our overseas missionary activities.  Above all else, we hope you will find the stories not only informative, but also spiritually nurturing and though provoking.

In his recent Message for World Communications Day, our former Pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI, spoke about the “new relationships and forms of community” which can come into being via social media networks. That is our hope for this new venture.

He went on to say that “ultimately, it is not only ideas and information that are shared (in these spaces), but ultimately, our very selves”.

We look forward to sharing “our very selves” with you through the sharing in this e-news. And in so doing, we pray that you will also encounter something of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in which we find our truest identity.

For, as the Pope reminds us in his message, “When we are present to others, in any way at all, we are called to make known the love of God to the furthest ends of the earth”.
